A Labor of Love

Members of the Mount Vernon chapter gathered at the home of Janet Betz for a luncheon deliciously prepared by Barbara Tucker on Tuesday, October 2nd, to present a completed quilt, a work in progress since last summer, to the husband of friend and fellow quilter Martha Plank. The quilt features ten blocks found in Martha’s stash and ten others lovingly pieced by members of the guild, creating a memory that will surely become a family heirloom enjoyed for generations to come. After blocks were auditioned on a design wall at last summer’s retreat, it was pieced, basted, marked, and passed on from one member to another. Thanks to all who contributedy time and skill to see this quilt through to the end and to Janet Betz for her determination and perseverance in coordinating the effort to honor her friend. Paul and his family are sure to find warmth and comfort in this beautiful tribute to Martha.
