"A few years ago, Lynn Miller graciously gifted me a bag of colorful indigenous fabric and a couple of UFO's.
In early 2021, Mama ( Eleanor Schriock Carter) and I finally had an idea of how to best use this gorgeous fabric -- make bags to store and transport Joe's three native drums, six drum sticks and a large drum stand, which we painted as a gift for Joe.
At the 2021 MVQU Holiday Party, I asked Ro Coller if she'd help me design the bags and teach me how to make a round bag. (The mere thought of making that huge bag was daunting!) Ro agreed to assist! Hooray!! I spent an entire day and evening at her home creating the big round powwow drum bag together. What a phenomenal learning experience and oh, so such fun!!
I created seven bags -- all with Lynn's fabric, and thick canvas and many, many spools of orange "Dacron" thread from Ro. 😊"
