Tea Party June 2, 2008

All dressed up for Mt. Vernon's Tea Party...

President Quilts

To Cathy and Beth...just our way of saying thanks! Enjoy your quilts.

I haven't had time to do any quilting this summer yet I still have a beautiful new quilt thanks to all of you!! I love bright colors so this quilt was right up my alley. It sits proudly on the couch in my TV room (where I spend too much time) and everyone who has seen it is so impressed that you guys would do this for me. Hope everyone is having a good summer and, as the song goes, I'll see you in September.

Cathy

Thank you…thank you…thank you….

June 3rd was a special day. We all enjoyed a lovely luncheon/tea thanks to Mary and Pat and their hard working committee. A round of applause to you all! It was also very special to me because I received a fabulous quilt to which you had all contributed. It is now proudly brightening my white couch in the living room. Thank you for the quilt and all the good wishes that came with it. I look forward to seeing you all in the fall.

VP Gift Baskets

Speechless!! Absolutely speechless (can that be true of Rhonda?). The "Tea Party" inspired gift baskets so thoughtfully put together were beyond words or our wildest expectations. Thank you to all of you, the membership of Mt. Vernon, for making these past two years such a delight. Your enthusiasm, endless support, energy and all the smiles you brought to each of our Tuesdays made all of our efforts worthwhile.

Quiltfully yours, Rhonda and Joyce

President Quilt Bock Inspired Quilts

These three quilts were inspired by the star blocks for the President's quilts.

Gigi Corbin said she had such fun making the blocks for the president quilts that she couldn't stop and made this lap size quilt.

Barbara Tucker's "Finished" as she calls it, is her first big quilt. And big it is--a glorious addition to her guest room.

Frankie Carroll's quilt was set using the October BOM Split Nine-Patch block...the stars seem to float.

McGlasson's Quilt

Nancy McGlasson shared her quilt signed by the membership at Mt. Vernon that accompanied her for her treatments. Nancy, it's great to have you back and looking so good. You are an inspiration to many!

Bow Tie Exchange Quilts

Kay Brill's Bow Tie Quilt looks like a perfect gift for Father's Day!
Frankie Carroll finished her quilt from the 2008 Bow Tie Block exchange blocks by creatively piecing a border with smaller bow ties.

BOM Reveal

Ladies, thanks for the wonderful interpretations of this year's BOM (Blog of the Month) Super Scrappy Stash Buster. For those quilts still in the works, be sure to share them when you finish... you truly amaze me.
Rhonda
Kay Brill's Super Scrappy BOM was a real stash buster.

Beth Smith's charming version in red and white depleted her stash of reds--refusing to purchase fabrics for the BOM, she almost made it but had to get an additional fat quarter or two.

Bert Garino's Amish inspired Flying Geese border makes for a happy ending to her BOM. Look closely at Bert's quilting the next time she brings it in for sharing--there's a bunny hiding amongst the flowers.

Dotty Eisenhour's 30's version pops with the addition of the red bits. Love that border Dotty. Sooooo sweet!

Libby Dudley's BOM was pieced entirely by hand. Don't you love her bouquet of Yo-Yo flowers?
