MVQU Member's Quilt Featured on Cover of New Book

Our own Rhonda Adams has another of her quilts featured on the cover of a new book... this time in Quilts: Unfinished Stories with New Endings, by Gyleen X. Fitzgerald!

This book is a quilter's journey to finishing antique textiles, from blocks to tops to quilts. Be inspired to use today's fabric to complete and provide a contemporary essence to what was started in 1930s' or 40s'. There is a stunning photo-essay of seventeen completed vintage quilts, instructions to recreate ten quilts, and lots of how to information.

Gyleen says, "As I look at my vintage collection I ask myself if I can pay homage to those quilters I so admire by finishing what they started? Is it possible to add my style of simple lines, contemporary fabric and unexpected color blending without compromising the original intent? It's a tall order and I love challenges. Come and join me on the journey to finishing."
This is a pre-order. The product will ship when it becomes available. It is due to come in on April 1, 2009.

Price: $38.00
Details can be found at:http://www.colourfulstitches.com/xcart/product.php?productid=45
Gyleen will lecture at the Houston Show next year. The lecture is Quilts: Unfinished Stories with New Endings. Most of the quilts in the book will be there for the trunk show and she will tell her deepest secrets on how she got 22 quilts done in two years! She will also teach two workshops.

Book Signing at WebFabrics

A great time was had at WebFabrics in Purcellville, Virginia on December 6th. RaNae Merill signed a number of books and showcased several quilts that are in the book to shoppers. Linda Cooper, Mary Reddington, and Kathy Edwards stood by to answer questions from customers and signed their books. Afterwards, the foursome was joined by Carly Mul, owner of Web Fabrics, for a wonderful dinner at Magnolias in downtown Purcellville. You ask where was Rhonda that day? Unfortunately, the demands of her job had her flying at 35,000 feet enroute home from Madrid, Spain that day. We missed you Rhonda!
