Check for Corrections Before you Begin!

Thank you Nanette Gibbs for compiling this extensive list of websites where you can check to see if there are any corrections to printed patterns

http://www.leisurearts.com/errata  NOTE:  You will need to indicate publication.

While doing this list I found it helpful to Google both the title of the magazine and the expression ‘corrections’ or ‘errata’.  For example:  ‘Fons and Porter Love of Quilting corrections’.  You could also put ‘Love of Quilting corrections’ and you would get the same results.  Please note that I also included the publishing houses for the various quilting books and they have specialized pages where you can customize your search for the book you are using.

I have not included sites from Australia and France but using the above strategy you can easily find corrections for publications from those countries as well.

I would recommend checking these websites particularly if you have a ‘kit’ that has been lying around for awhile.

2015/2016 Fundraiser

2015/2016 FUNDRAISER      2015/2016 FUNDRAISER     2015/2016 FUNDRAISER

Our 2015 auction was a grand success, but we all feel a little “burned out” from the huge effort that made the auction as profitable as possible.  Therefore, this year, I wanted to present something other than an auction for our 2015-2016 fundraising event.

We will raffle of a wonderful quilt.   Now don’t panic!  The quilt is already completed and ready for “prime time”.

The raffle tickets have been printed and are ready to be distributed to the membership starting at the September 8th Business Meeting.  The drawing will be held at our December Luncheon.

Your participation in this event is crucial!!!  Raffle tickets will be sold for $1.00
I hope everyone will purchase at least one package of 20 tickets to keep and/or sell.  So, please bring cash or your checkbook to the September meeting.

Full membership participation will make this a really EASY and profitable event.

Remember this is THE fundraiser event for this year. . . . . Rickie Frost

RAFFLE QUILT INFORMATION

The quilt we are raffling was donated by Pat Alfredson. Quilt was started by Gail Englsh, finished by Pat Alfredson, and quilted by Angela Miller.  The quilt measures 79 1/4” by 78 1/2”

Chantilly Nine Patch in beige background with red, yellow, rust, blue and green. Solid blocks 5 3/4” square,  with alternating nine patch blocks set on point, creating a traditional Single Irish Chain design.  Total 133 blocks, with setting triangles and 8” borders.

Traditionally a pattern executed in two colors, this variation using multi- colored blocks revitalizes the design by drawing the viewer closer to the quilt design elements.  Beautifully machine quilted.

Quilt is appraised at $1525.00.  Professional appraisal, for insurance purposes, available to raffle winner.

Charity Workshops

Charity Workshops

–     September 29, 2015
–     Will skip December 29
–     March 29, 2016
–     May 31, 2016
–     November 29, 2016
We will have a project that will be announced at least two weeks in advance.  I will show a sample of the project at the large meeting downstairs the week before.  You can also come and sew on a charity item of your choice or complete unfinished quilt tops, which others have donated.  (I will let everyone know before the meeting if I have any unfinished quilt tops.)

I have downloaded a number of free patterns and they can be found on our blog under Charity Workshops.  They are not all baby quilts but can be easily adapted to make them smaller.  The various websites that I downloaded the patterns from follow:
·         www.allfreesewing.com
·         www.equilter.com
·         www.accuquilt.com
·         www.fonsandporter.com

My GO Accuquilt cutter and dies will be at each workshop so you can easily cut strips and shapes for your charity quilts.  I have the following cutting dies:

·         Squares:  2 ½”, 3 ½”, 4 ½”, 4 ¾”, 5”, 6 ½”, 8 ½”
·         Triangles:  2½”, 3 ½”, 4 7/8”, 6 ½”
·         Rectangle:  3 ½” X 6 ½”
·         Strips:  2 ½”, 3 ½”, 6 ½” strips
·         Flowers
