Bee Enhancement November 2015 Stitch & Flip Bag
Bee Enhancement – Mark Your Calendar
On November 17 at 12:30pm,
I will be covering a fabric type grocery bags. If you care to
join me, bring your machine, scraps and your recyclable grocery
bag. You can sew, you can watch, or you can make
suggestions. We will be taking the bag apart and sewing strips
on them and basically putting the bag together. You can use squares,
strips, and leftover blocks. You can line the inside of the bag
with fabric, too. Anything goes, basically wherever
your imagination takes you to make a reinforced, newly decorated, updated
bag! Mary

November 2015 BOM Star Gazing
November’s block, Ohio Star, introduces quarter square
triangles. This is another basic block
from which many block designs build.
Variations to this block demonstrate how small changes in color
placement or the addition of another color can make a great impact in the
overall look of the design. Two of the
variations had a small pieced block to the center of the star for even more
visual impact. This month there are many
patterns, with instructions for alternate sizes. Chose to make one or chose to make them all. Have fun!

Splicing batting and the Tucker trimmer-October
6, 12:30pm.
Do you have pieces of batting that you would like to make
larger? Do you have a quick way of
splicing the pieces together? If you are
like me, you have tried “zigzag” sewing the pieces together only to find mounds
in the batting seams and irregular seams; and you have tried bonding the pieces
together with that narrow bonding tape, and find the tape not holding or stuck
to some place other than the intended seam.
Now, I have a quick and easy way splice batting pieces together which
I will demonstrate on our next bee day in the Bee Room 216-- October 6, at
12:30pm.
Lynne and Ruth have
started us off on “Star Gazing” Block of the Month, with September being the Friendship
Star. Now this block has a half square triangle
in it and I distinctly remember Lynne suggesting that we make the blocks a bit
bigger and then trim them down. So with
that in mind, DO I HAVE THE TOOL FOR YOU. Yes, the Tucker trimmer which I will also
demonstrate at the next bee day—October 6, 12:30pm. So come and see the demos and hopefully make
your quilting projects quicker and more enjoyable. Mary Downey

Making Quilt Carriers—October 20, 10:30am.
Ro has again gracious offered to guide us in making quilt
carriers during our October 20 bee. This
bee will begin at 10:30 in the Bee room 216. The pattern will be posted on the blog.
You can select and bring your own fabric OR you use
one of the kits Ro has. What do you
need to do? So we can plan and have
enough supplies, let us know if you are interested in making the carrier and
whether you will be bringing your own fabric.
The day of the bee, you will need to bring your sewing machine and a
neutral thread. The bottom panel and
dowel handles will be provided. Thank
you, Ro. Hope to see you there.
