On September 21, 2010, MVQU will sponsor an all day workshop with Valerie McMickle where she will teach a woven basket in the round. Lynn Eccleston will be bringing a class sample to the upcoming bees so that members can take a look at an example of a finished product. The sample is done in pastels featuring pinks and greys, but we think that this would make an absolutely fantastic Holiday table topper or Christmas tree skirt if done in reds and greens. (And, by starting this the end of September, you’ll have plenty of time to get it finished by this year’s holiday season!) The fee for the class is $50.00 and INCLUDES a specialty ruler needed for the project as well as the pattern. All you need to do is show up with four coordinating fabrics, your sewing machine, thread, your rotary cutter, a cutting board and a 24 inch ruler. No preparation before class is required.
We plan to hold this program at the Governmental Center, but the Center isn’t taking reservations for the upcoming year yet. If we need to change the venue, we’ll let you know in plenty of time.
We hope that we’ll have a good turnout for what should be a fun day. The instructor needs to order the rulers and the patterns, so please sign up as soon as possible. We also plan to open up this program to others outside the Mount Vernon QU on August 15, so sign up early to assure your spot.
