Raffle Quilt Tickets

Just a reminder that Kathy Murray will have the raffle tickets for sale at the meeting the end of the month. We have 100 tickets but can get more. Cost of tickets is $1 each or 6 for $5 - cash please. Drawing will be held on Sunday June 6th, 2010 at 3:00 PM.

The raffle quilt, Circle Jubilee, is shown at left.
It is a Pam Clarke design, appliquéd and pieced by the Fairfax Quilters Unlimited Chapter and machine quilted by Christy Dillon. The quilt measures 92" X 92". Circle Jubilee will be displayed at the February 9th meeting.

Show and Tell - January 12, 2010

What a lovely arrangement Mary Mazzuchi chose to show off blocks purchased at the MVQU Auction a few years back. The blocks were donated by Rhonda Adams

Bert's quilt called "Floored by Venice" was started at a workshop at the Artful Quilter. It is based on a floor of a church in Venice, Italy. She added more rows, and spatter painted some of the fabric (and the shirt she was wearing at the time).

Bert Garino designed “Shanghai Beauty” using EQ6. The top is paper pieced using all Asian fabrics. The background is stitched with bamboo trees that bring up the trapunto work done behind each wheel…truly beautiful. (Thanks to Carolyn Paden for the help in photographing all the quilts.)

New member Kathy Murray shared an exquisite quilt that she and her mother have been working together as a gift for her daughter. The cross stitched blocks feature quilts and rocking chairs for each month of the year. They were all stitched by Kathy’s Mother, pieced by Kathy, and professionally quilted.

Sally Spangler made a patriotic “Raggedy Sal” using red, white, and blue fabric with Stars and Dots abound.
