Lynda Poole Prioleau, with her “Funky Little Houses” in tow, awed us with what she called her collection of “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” quilts, free standing pieces, and pop-up sculptures on February, 26, 2008. Lynda walked us through her creative process and how she was drawn to making contemporary quilts and using them as a means of play and possibility. The use of multiple layers and incorporating found items into her designs intrigue the viewer and encourage them to take a closer look. Perhaps you will try “pushing the limits” and create new interest in your next quilt…remember there are no failures, just creative endeavors. Enjoy the possibilities!

The use of Timtex adds stabitily to the dimensional areas of this quilt, allowing Lynda the opportunity to sculpt and resculpt the bands and rings that fall freely from the quilt's surface.
Often working in a series, Lynda is able to explore "the possibilites." These two quilts have photos transfers of homes from her old neighborhood incorporated into them.
Beth, Cathy, and Bev take time to enjoy Lynda's famous 'Funky Little Houses"... these 3-D pop-up sculptures earned her a segment on Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson.
As the saying goes... "you can't just make one." This yellow townhouse stands on a chenille lawn.

Old shacks are a fascination and a reaccuring theme of Lynda's.
Lynda thought this piece belonged in the "Ugly" category... but we loved it!
Lynda's fascination with old buildings continues in this quilt...the photo in this piece was taken the day before the demolition began on the site of the new National Harbor across the river.
Lynda's use of found objects draws the viewer in for a closer look... is that really the soul of a shoe, a metro pass, a taxi voucher?
"September 11, 2002," made a year after the event which changed so many lives, is a tribute to those who gave so much. The idea for this quilt came to Lynda in the middle of the night. She woke up and wrote from her heart. It allowed her heart to heal and later became part of a special exihibit.
