September 2011 Show and Tell

Well, we had another very busy 2011 summer for our guild members.

We begin with Carol Conahan's "Trees & Presents" which is based on the 63 "Present Blocks" she won in the block exchange. She used 14 in this quilt. We can hardly wait to see what she does with the other blocks.

Next we have Joyce Keating's "Soldier Quilt."

Carol Paden presented two Thimbleberries designs, "4-Patch Naper" and "Quilter's Garden."

Sierra Smith presented four quilts: Her first a log cabin. Note that the center's are different sizes but the blocks are the same size.

Sierra did this from a charm pack.

and then the blue and black scrap quilt. And finally a scrap triangle quilt.

Ann Marlin found a pattern she loves. She made no less than 5 "Stars Galore" in rainbow colors.

And a special Christmas quilt.

and lastly two Halloween quilts.

Lynn Eccleston has had a very busy summer. "Tchaikowsky Takes Up Quilting" was from a class by Didi Salvatierra taken at the Vermont Quilt Festival this past summer. It has so much stuff going on--beading, buttons, the works. Thus it reminds her of the business of a Tchaikowsky symphony--thus the name.

Lynn made this "Turquoise Tessylation" for Quilters Quarterly, a charity group.

Lynn' fractured nine patch also made for Quilter's Quarterly. Very patriotic with red in the center.

Annette Ornelas came to our guild last year and Lynn bought one of her patterns. A lovely table runner that she worked on during the retreat and it is a Christmas gift for one of her friends.

Lynn bought a template to make tessylated pinwheels at the Naples Quilt Show this past March. She is now addicted--having made six projects with the tempate using the technique. She has gotten her money's worth.

"Time Travelers" was a quilt from a kit purchased at a Lancaster show a few years ago. She was looking for a project to take on long airplane trips. She did most of the Sashiko stitching en route to Tokyo.

"Donna's Basket Weave Quilt" is from a pattern developed by Donna Walbrecht, one of our members who died this past year. This quilt was also made for Quilters Quarterly.

Dotty Eisenhour made a James Madison and VA Tech wedding quilt. Quilting was done by Angie.

Barbara Zygiel presented her 200 Baskets Bed Quilt and Mini Christmas and Halloween Baskets. "Wow"--very impressive all hand pieced and hand quilted.

Lynne brought in her "President's quilt" that she received at the June luncheon for everyone to see. The members contributed blocks, Gigi Corbin and Lynn Eccleston, designed it and put it together and finally Angie's provided the quilting touch. A fantastic thank you to Lynne from the members.

Kay got the bulls eye blocks made by the members at the silent auction. The circles and stars made up a lovely quilt. And lastly her Christmas stockings for the holiday.

Gigi made her brother a "Go, Skins, Go" quilt for his big birthday.

the signed label on the back was a "football." How appropriate!

Angie Miller made some special quilts for her nephew Richard who loves music and the Beatles. She actually put Beatles fabric on the back . And then for her niece Kelli, who loves green, Angie used batik fabric purchased at the retreat last Spring.

Another dazzling quilt named "Huckle-Bearies" by T. Carter (pattern by McKenna Ryan)

Marianne Urban's split 9 patch and Shar Jorgenson's pieced Crazy templates --both made at our retreat.

Check out Ruth's old vintage quilt, a cutter quilt, made into a pillow sham. She actually made two pillow shams and brought one in for us to see.

Jim presented his "China" quilt. Jim picked up the chinese hexagons at a yard sale.

Ro had a very busy summer as we can see. She finished charity quilts, the latest fractured nine patch and a few hold overs from previous workshops.
